3. Who may attend the screenings?
The film festival is open to the public and anyone may attend. One need not be a student of Northern Essex Community College to attend. Please check the ratings with us if you have any concerns, some films are rated R.

4. What is the general age group of the people who go to this event?
From 12 to 80. There is no one age group that is most prevalent although it is accurate to say that the majority of festival-goers are over 35.

5. Are the films in other languages dubbed or subtitled?
All films shown are in their native languages and subtitled in English. We have never shown a dubbed movie and probably never will.

6. Why should I be interested in seeing a movie that is not in my own language?
Foreign films give us a window into the larger world and and a way of observing the many fascinating aspects of other cultures.  In addition, while American movies are quite good technically, they tend to be formulaic and standardized. Foreign films, on the other hand, provide many surprises and often deliver a sophisticated emotional and thematic content. Open minded people who love to read and travel usually like foreign films.  If you are a die-hard fan of "action" films, i.e. Terminator, Bruce Willis, Steven Segal, etc., you probably won't like these films. Foreign films usually move more slowly than "action films" because they take time to develop charachters in depth. American movies, on the other hand, are driven by plot and tension right from the first five minutes.

7. What is the atmosphere like?
The atmosphere is relaxed and casual, like that of a coffee house. Light refreshments are usually provided  and some film-goers like to come a little early to relax. People come back year after year. It is a laid-back and enjoyable event.
